The annual show and sale of the Mason-Dixon Chapter of the American Rhododendron Society will return to Westminster in 2008. This year's extravaganza will be held on Mother's Day weekend, Saturday, May 10, and Sunday, May 11, at the Carroll County Agricultural Center's Rabbit Barn in Westminster. The Rabbit Barn (or "Bunny Barn" as it is sometimes called) is located just to the north of the Shipley Arena. Saturday hours will be from 9 AM to 4 PM; Sunday hours, 10 AM to 2 PM. Expert advice and educational materials will be available, and rhododendrons, azaleas, and numerous companion plants, such as hostas and other perennials, will be offered for sale by the chapter and selected vendors.
The highlight of the event will be the chapter's annual truss show, featuring flowers from many different varieties of rhododendrons and azaleas. In addition to ribbons, a number of prizes will be awarded to the top entries, including the "People's Choice Award," decided by the popular vote of all attendees.

The Carroll County Agricultural Center is located just off Route 32 in Westminster, near the Carroll County Hospital Center. The old entrance to the Ag Center from Smith Avenue has been blocked off, and there is now a separate entrance off Gist Road, about 200 yards north of Smith Avenue. Be cautious as you are driving in, as the road may not be in the best of condition.

For more detailed maps and directions from your home, see Google maps or MapQuest. The address of the Ag Center is 706 Agriculture Drive, Westminster, Maryland 21157. To find out more about the Ag Center, see their web site. (The site also has directions.)
